Why Dolan, and Francis, and Benedict are Right

The following is a terrific article on evangelism and the Missio Dei. The title is ridiculous and misleading as the article does not quote or reference any of the Catholic leaders. Obviously the author of the article is inspired by them. Nonetheless, the content of the article is spot on.

Why Dolan, and Francis, and Benedict are Right

Dolan, Francis, and Benedict are not right. But the word of God is right, and true altogether. I suppose the blogger would prefer to worship a god of expediency, a god of social tolerance, and one who will celebrate and approve of sexual sin......after all.....one cannot be too judgmental these days. Political correctness and a tepid and easy theology will suffice for truth. Perhaps the blogger might consider reading the Bible again, and turn his attention to Romans 1.

John, you are obviously reacting to the title of the post. This was not a title I selected, but the title of the article. For the record, I almost did not post the article because of the title. I certainly DO NOT believe that Dolan, Francis, and Benedict are right on all things. Nonetheless, the topic of the article really had nothing to do with those three Catholic leaders other than the fact that they obviously inspired to author of the article to write it. She did not quote them or use them as an example in any way. Instead, what she wrote is a very incarnational, biblical, and faithful commentary on on what true Christian evangelism looks and sounds like. That's why I posted the article, not because of the ridiculous title.

It seems that you have judged me a purveyor of "tepid and easy theology" and political correctness based upon the title of an article that I shared on my blog. Have you read ANYTHING that I have posted (which are primarily sermons)? Do you find this judgment sound?

Moreover, aside from the title of the article, I would be interested to know where you think the author has written in opposition to orthodox doctrine and the Holy Scriptures it is drawn from.

I apologize for jumping to conclusions. You have a right to find my knee jerk reaction visceral and contentious. I am striving to be more agreeable in my postings, but I have difficulty with anger as I read contemporary writings which seem contrary to Biblical teachings. I am often opposed to most everything taught by ELCA pastors, because in particular many have strayed from what the Bible explicitly teaches about not conforming or approving of worldly values and social morays. As for the Catholic Church, its' teachings and doctrines, and Papal ordinances, are in many cases alien to Holy Writ. I suppose it would be better if I just stopped posting responses, because it is useless, as the Bible is no longer held in authority in many churches, and the doctrines of men are being presented as truth.

No problem John. You have my forgiveness. I am guilty of the same kinds of reactions from time to time and, like yourself, I am trying to not be reactionary.

As I noted, I nearly did not post the article because of the title. Still, I believe the content to be good and helpful.

I appreciate Christians who are zealous for the Truth and the faithful confession of it.

Peace be with you.
